Poll: Does Hong Kong still matter to China?

When China took over the running of Hong Kong in 1997, the former-U.K. colony was a substantial addition to its nascent economy. Nearly 20 years since the handover, China's economy has grown much faster than the Hong Kong's. According to the World Bank, Hong Kong represented 18 percent of the mainland's gross domestic product in 1997. Nearly 20 years later, it is just 3 percent.
